Quick background info:
First opening in new house, bought during winter, was told the pool was in use and operating this past season
This is a Hayward SP0710XR50 Pro-Series Vari-Flo Backwash Valve
Tech left an hour ago, kind of rush through the explanation, but long story short the pool water is not flowing correctly through the valve, into the filter, back to the jets. The filter starts up, other features run (backwash, etc), but when in Filter the basket fills up, I see the water rush up into the tube, then it sits and runs without moving water. The water in the basket doesn't swirl, jets don't fire up, skimmer doesn't suction. PSI stays low, motor seems to run fine.
Tech says I need a new one at like $250 (of course) and that will be a few weeks out. He said I *could* do it myself.
Lastly, my wife and I are fairly handy with the pool stuff, so I'm not afraid to try if it'll save us some money and get us in the pool faster.
My questions...
Is this something I could fix until a new valve arrives?
Is this something I could fix and not need a new valve?
It this valve something most pool stores have?
