Hayward Universal ColorLogic 4.0 12v replacement options??

Hi FTP crew,

I had a pool installed in late 2018, not opened until 2019. I have Hayward CL 12V pool and spa lights and both failed at open this year. I'd be surprised if we had 1000 hours on them over 3 full seasons, much less the "50,000 hours" they claim to be rated for. The pool light flickers and fails, the spa light is DOA. I have tested the transformer and get a consistent 14VAC so it's definitely the lights. I tried isolating the lights at the junction box by taking each one out of the circuit individually to see if one was somehow interfering with the other...no difference. I have not been able to find 12V replacements available through retail channels. It looks like Hayward is forcing customers to go through distributors. That said, and before I even pursue replacements, I've seen so many terrible reviews on this product and the comparable Pentair. Has anyone found any suitable 12VAC replacements that either fit the existing niches or can be retrofitted into them?

If you do want to stay with the Hayward, you can get replacements at Sunplay; I’ve grabbed a couple from there: Hayward ColorLogic 320 LED Light W3LACUS11050 - 50 Foot Cord

If you do want to consider a third party options, take a look at these. Note that you won’t be able to use OmniDirect mode, but that’s not the end of the world: Brilliant Wonders Color LED Light | H-Style 11 Watts 100' Cord | 25503-560-100H

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, the ColorLogic 4.0 niche is only about 2.5" deep so replacements are a challenge.

Ah forgive me, I completely missed that these are the 4.0 models and not the 1.5” versions
