Hayward SWG PCB dead (GLX-PCB-RITE)

Hello all

I've been a member for a while and have learned a lot from the forums on here. I am still a novice when it comes to maintaining an SWG pool so I come here whenever I have the smallest of issues. So, thanks to y'all for sharing your knowledge and teaching guys like me.

Now to the issue on hand; I first noticed that my SWG stopped working about 3 months back (May '24). After reading through forums and following the Hayward SWG Troubleshooting guide I found that my Thermistor was bad. I bought the thermistor and replaced it on the PCB (watched a few videos). Next, I notice about a month ago (July '24) that I had no power light at all. Once again, I read through the troubleshooting guide and this time I noticed visible damage on the ORIGINAL PCB. I ordered a generic PCB off Amazon. I also noticed some black marks on my Thermostat and ordered a new one as well even though my old thermostat showed resitance numbers within the limits. I replaced both PCB and transformer and ran my SWG for about a week just fine and noticed no power LED again. I ran the tests again per the guide and noticed no resistance on the NEW Transformer. I put back my old transformer and turned on the SWG and heard a pop right away. I opened the panel to my SWG and noticed that my brand new PCB is fried.

At this point, I am unsure of what's going on. Any help is much appreciated. I have had the system for over 7 years now but now I am leaning towards not running the pool on SWG system

Welcome to TFP.

We are not fans of knockoff PCBs from Amazon. Too many of them don’t work.

With all the parts you replaced I think you should get a new SWG panel and probably cell.

Lots of folks find the Circupool SWG is a good value…

What is your other equipment?

You have any automation?

I will have to get the specifics for the pump (most likely a Hayward), but I have a Jandy DEL60 filter. I also have a heater (also will have to find the brand).
The SWG and the pump are wired into a Dewenwills Outdoor Wi-Fi timer switch (I assume that's what you mean by automation)
Ok, a Circupool SWG will fit right into that mix of equipment.
