My Hayward Super pump spits a bit of water out of the lid upon shutdown for a couple seconds then stops...and I mean SPITS, not dribbles. It doesnt leak when running. Old pump body and lid probably 10 years old, new lid seal and motor installed last fall. Pump/filter pad is below normal pool water level. Any major concern? I doubt it but thought I'd ask.

Sounds like you lid gasket for your pump may start to be failing. Make sure there is no debree on the gasket and use Teflon based lube on you gasket. As long as you don't see air in your pump you are good to go. If you do see air then I would replace the lid gasket.

New Lid gasket installed last summer with motor replacement (came with go-kit), and of course a schmear of lube. I don't normally see air in pool or pump basket; I think when pump is running it pulls enough suction to suck the lid down and seal, then relaxes when off. It spits for a few seconds then stops. Found a new-in-package lid seal (from last year)..might try that. Hate to spend $30 on a new pump lid...
