Hayward Super Pump 2 (0.75 HP) - Capacitor

Hi all,

I have a Hayward Super Pump 2 (0.75 HP) that is humming and not starting (trips the breaker after a few seconds). However, if the impeller is given a nudge, it works well. Hence it seems to be the capacitor? I was going to replace the capacitor and there is a difference in the MFD/uf range (MFD = UF).

Old capacitor says:
124-148 MFD
125 VAC
60HZ

The new capacitor (available in store) says:
161-193 UF
125 VAC
50-60HZ

1) Am I correct to assume that it is indeed the capacitor that needs to be replaced?

2) Will there an issue if the new capacitor has a higher MFD/uf rating?

3) How do I find the original part number/specifications? Pump picture attached, but not sure where I can find the original capacitor specifications online.

Thanks. Unfortunately, only have the pool open for ~3 months a year, and don't really use it at all due to personal circumstances so just keeping it going for now. i.e. maintenance only. Given that a new capacitor costs $10-$20, I'll have to stick with the capacitor replacement and try to get the pump going.

I did see this item on Amazon with the following comment.

This capacitor is the perfect replacement for the 124-148 uf. Installed easy and motor turned on with no issues. You can't beat this capacitor for the price. Hope to get a few years out of it.

A start capacitor can have one step higher MFD, not lower.

Thank you! Would 124-148 MFD, to 161-193 MFD be considered "1 step" higher?
If yes, any long term impact of using the higher MFD capacitor?

Also, please let me know if you know how to check the original part specification. This may have been replaced by the previous owner, hence trying to figure out if it is indeed the correct part.

Here is what I have tried so far, but no luck:

- Bought new capacitor and replaced it. Pool is still humming for a few seconds and not starting up (trips the breaker). If I give the impeller a spin, the pump runs (same as with the old capacitor, hence although I was certain it was the capacitor, I no longer believe that is the issue).

- Removed the impeller and tested again, the pump does not start, same humming noise. Which makes me believe that it is not a jammed impeller, since I removed it and tested it.

What are the other possible solutions? The pump bearings do seem to have gone since it makes a loud noise - could it be the issue, i.e. would it affect the start up of the pump? Please let me know, thanks so much!!!

Thanks @JamesW ! I have a video of the wire set up prior to removing the capacitor, so I've attached a screenshot from the video. It looks very similar to the pictures in your reply.
I tried cleaning the contacts, still running into the same issue unfortunately. Also had an old Hayward Pump for spare parts - replaced the V shape contacts with that one to test too, and still had the same issue :(

If I'm seeing the pic correctly, those are starter winding contacts. They should be closed when the motor isn't running. There are weights that fly out a little when the motor is spinning and open the switch. It sounds like that mechanism is jammed up as @JamesW said with the contacts open. No juice to the starter winding makes a motor with a hard time starting. Have a close look for something corroded or worn that's causing things to be stuck. Maybe spray a bit (don't go crazy) of WD-40 in the moving parts and wiggle gently.
