I am replacing my filter with a Hayward DE Pro-Grid and am using the SP0740DE Valve.
The Valve offers plumbing ports for the pump on both sides and comes with a black PVC plug to install in the unused port. However, when I dry-fit the plug, it fits very loosely. I am used to PVC fittings where there is good friction when dry fitting. Is it expected for this plug to fit loosely? Will that cause any issues when installed? I am wondering if I should use a PVC stub with a plug/cap on that instead.
Also ... when I have been gluing valves I typically take apart the valve to prevent any glue from getting on the actual valve portion. Is that a best practice as well for gluing pipe to a multiport valve ... seems like it is much more complex to disassemble and there are warnings about springs in the valve.
Thanks,
