Hayward setting? What percent.

Just wondering what setting people find themselves at which keeps chlorine at desired level. I had chlorine good, so I turned it up to 40% and in a couple days the chlorine was at 30ppm! So I got it back to 4 and then I turned the generator to 10% output and it’s doing good for last couple days keeping chlorine where I need it.

Do you you have a % Buber you leave it dialed to??

How long do you run your pump? I run my SWG at 100% but only for about 4 hours during the week - enough time to add some chlorine, skim the top, and run the cleaner. I run it for 6-8 on the weekends because we are using it.

The amount of chlorine generated is based on percentage and run time.

Yes, it was closed cover. As far as how long I run the pump, its been going 24hrs a day which I'm assuming is one of those variable speed pumps. I dont see a timer on the control panel like my neighbor has from same pool builder.

Honestly, the pool build is not quite finished yet, so I haven't got my walk thru. I've been learning on here and youtube so far. I think next week, I get the keys to the pool and get let loose!

so people dont just find a % output number and let it sit if the chorine number is good?

My neighbor who routinely has lots of kids in his salt pool seems to battle cloudy water. He said next time he has a pool party he will turn it to "super Chorinate" before kids get in. If I have about 10 people in the pool, is the chlorine most likely going to dip the next day?

Still figuring my % out too. It’s a balancing act. Just keep tweaking it as it sounds like it is early days. Be sure to check regularly so it doesn’t get below minimum. I have also noticed when I change the % it takes a couple of days to settle in. I have yet to have a lot of kids in my pool at once but when I do I plan on bringing FC right up before they enter or as soon as they get out with liquid chlorine. When my boys swim I just turn swg on while they’re swimming if it is outside run times and in doing that I haven’t noticed an impact on the FC. Before doing this I did notice a slight drop afterwards.

Unfortunately there is no universal setting. Each pool behaves differently. You will have to get some testing going to see how things are. I run my pool for 10 hours a day at 50%. It keeps my pool at desired FC with CYA at 70 in the Houston sun.
