I have a Hayward S244t sand filter and I need to replace my pressure gauge (needle stuck behind the pin). Everything I've read/watched says that you have to release the air prior to taking off the gauge, and then after turning the pump back on wait till water shoots out and then close the relief valve. I can't find an air relief valve anywhere, and searching other threads, makes it sound like the Hayward Sand filters don't have one? With the Hayward sand filters, do you just turn off the pump, unscrew the gauge, put a new one on, and then start the pump?

Moved from here.

After turning the pump off, remove the lid. That will release any pressure that might be in the system. Then you can take out the old and install the new.
