Hayward S244S Sand Filter
Good day ladies and gentlemen. In a week, I will be changing the sand on this type filter for my sister who owns the pool. She mentioned that both of the piping from the side mount valves that connects to the side of the filter are leaking at the tank. I assume that the o-rings have deteriorated since the filter is about 20 years old. However, there is a chance that the elbows inside the filter are cracked which connects to the outside of filter. I do not know what the issue is at this time. However, if the elbows are cracked, how is the lower elbow attached to the lateral? I have search for over an hour and cannot find an answer. Is the elbow a slip fit to the lateral hub or is glued on? Anyone who has experience removing these elbows would be helpful. I also may want to remove the laterals to inspect them more closely, thus the need for elbow removals. And I believe that this filter is manufactured in 2005 where the laterals do not have a hinge. In other words, each one has to be screwed out of its hub. Thank you very much!
