Anyone else have trouble with the filter case splitting at the seam? Mine has split up high near the control valve. I drilled out the split and installed a ss bolt with washers to seal the crack. That was the only thing that would work. Now the other side is leaking. It's less than 3 years old.:(

May I suggest you read through this post: Can a cracked filter be fixed?

Attempting a fix by whatever means - especially on a seam - is just asking for trouble. The filter should be taken out of service. If it has a multiport valve, set it to recirculate and let the pump run on normal schedule to circulate the water and keep the chemicals mixed thoroughly until the filter is replaced.

I had a 36" Hayward sand filter start leaking at the seam near the top in the first year of use. Mine was replaced under warranty.

Discovered a split seam in my Hayward sand filter tank this morning, same area as yours, up high near the valve. This filter is about 2-1/2 years old, installed in March 2016. It was a replacement for another Hayward filter that also busted at the seam. That one lasted about 5 years. Thinking this is a defective product, going to look for a different brand.
