Hayward Power-Flo Matrix Wiring Help

Pump stopped working today. Took back cover off and the switch was fried. Literally. Have ordered a new one. Hoping for some guidance on putting it all back together.

This is what I opened up.




So.

The plug has three wires- green, white, black.

The green is ground. Attached in the pick. The white is the neutral, was attached on the L2 terminal as pictured when I opened up. The black was scorched and not attached anywhere upon opening.

The on/off switch was attached via the red wire on L1 you see in the photo.

Where does the black wire go? Next to the red on L1? I’m confused a bit here.

Any guidance much appreciated.

Or am I off and the red wire goes to the new switch and the black wire goes to the new switch as well. I found a video online that shows this setup.

Just on/off.

One speed.

Then your good to go. The red and black at the switch is just breaking the hot side. The wire in your motor are good just need to be routed through proper fittings per electrical code. Make sure to bond the motor.
