All I’m looking to replace a Hayward CX 225XREM filter when I look online, I can find a CX 225XRE for significantly cheaper than the XREM is there a difference?

This is what the "M" represents but in my opinion if the chemistry is per TFP you won't ever need it. "Microban coating"

Not sure the price difference but water chemistry per TFP will save and extend anything your water comes into contact with
If your water chemistry is kept in balance that is the key
Plaster liners heaters and any other equipment will last many years and dollars longer
Just follow the TFP guidelines
I have never had a question on this forum that the experts on TFP do not know the answer too
Ask here first and last the knowledge and experience on here cannot be matched by any other “experts “
