Have two diverter valves with Hayward actuators for switching between pool and spa...one suddenly not working. The valve is ok. No motor activity in actuator. How do I begin to troubleshoot? Possibly be the microswitches?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Also, older incandescent in wall pool light not working either, but happened later. How to troubleshoot? Thanks again!

On the Actuator - first try moving the switch on it to see if it moves. Next, Take it off the valve and see if it works. Sometimes the oring that seals around the valve stem gets sticky. If the actuator will not work off the valve, then you need to decide if you wish to rebuild it or buy a new one.

Here is an article with links about actuators. Valve Actuators - Further Reading

The light, is the bulb blown out? I do not believe the bulbs are all that expensive.

Actuator doesn't move regardless of switch position. Was all clean and dry inside. Valve moves easily manually. How do I check to make sure actuator is being sent power from control box? Is there a relay involved?
Pool light is one with rotating colors, incandescent. Supposing water would need to be drained down to change bulb if that's the issue.
Thank you

NAPM,

You have two valves that move to switch between the pool mode and the spa mode. They are called the Intake valve and the Return valve. Inside your automation the actuators connect to two ports labeled "Intake" and "Return".. As a test, you can swap the Intake and Return connections and see what happens.

If the bad valve still does not work, but the working valve still works, then the problem is the actuator or the wire.

If the bad valve start working and the working valve is now bad, then the automation is the problem.

And yes, there is a small relay involved, but it is not one of the high voltage relays.

Thanks,

Jim R.
