Hayward 2HP single speed Pump Replacement Question

I have a 38,000 gallon salt water pool. It has two skimmers (one in the shallow end, one in the deep end). The deep end skimmer has its own 3/4 HP pump and feeds three waterfalls. The shallow end skimmer feeds a 2 HP Hayward single speed pump that is just over 3 years old. It is going bad and needs to be replaced. That pump has a single 2" inlet, and when the water comes out, it splits into 2 pipes. One feeds the underwater return lines, 1 feeds 2 bubblers. The outlet pipe has a diverter valve. We use that to send less water to the bubblers so they don't come out so high. I have 2 questions:
1) Should I replace the 2HP SuperPump with a 1.85HP or 2.7HP Hayward Variable Speed?
2) Would I be better off installing 2 pumps (one for the bubblers and one for the skimmer and return feeds?) - in essence, is using the diverter to limit the water to the bubblers causing any damage to the pump itself?

Welcome to TFP.

2.7 HP.

2) Would I be better off installing 2 pumps (one for the bubblers and one for the skimmer and return feeds?) - in essence, is using the diverter to limit the water to the bubblers causing any damage to the pump itself?

One pump is fine.
