Gunite pool step crack due to ice. DIY repair or?

So we had a week of VERY cold temp, and I had about 3-4 inches of ice up against the gun step (one other small spot as well) and the lip of the top step cracked off due to ice pressure. Is this something that is fixable? DIY or should I just go pro.. Not sure what this will take.

That is plaster spalling from ice freezing on the plaster surface.

You should get a plaster company to strip the step and replaster it. Depending on the plaster material and color it may not match the rest of the pool. So you will need to decide how much you want redone.

Yes, I kinda figured that which is VERY odd for a pool that is only 6 years old. I am going to get someone to look at it when it gets a little warner outside
