Hi everyone, my name is Joe. I’ve owned my current home, which has a pool, for a little over seven years now. I’m pretty handy and have tackled various projects like remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, removing carpet, installing tile and flooring, and more. I also handle my family's vehicle maintenance and have a strong interest in automation, home networking, IP security cameras, and smart home systems.

While I’ve learned a lot over the years, there’s still plenty more to discover, especially with pools and equipment. I’ve been a long-time lurker on this forum but only recently started doing my own pool maintenance within the past year, as I didn’t have the time before. The most significant pool-related task I’ve completed so far was replacing a pump motor a few years back.

Now, I’m gathering information and parts to replace my older, leaking Sta-Rite DuraGlass II Pump with a more efficient variable-speed unit. I might also need to replumb a little during this process. I need some advice, particularly about replacing the CMP fitting when I swap out the pump. It looks like the suction side Jandy valve (yellow box in picture) I have is using a short 2" PVC to a CMP fitting which connects to the pump. I would like to use the existing valve, just extend a bit so I can attach a new fitting for the new pump. Looking at the return side Jandy valve (red box in picture), there's a coupling connecting the 90° elbow to another straight 2". This is the piece I think I need, but having trouble figuring out what size and where to get it. There are so many couplings and joints in the plumbing, possibly from previous leaks that I think I may just be overthinking it.

Looking forward to learning from and contributing to the community!

I have added some photos of my pool and equipment, including one from last year when we got some snow.

Welcome and looking good. While I dont really remember getting any ice/snow the past few years, we certainly will get some in the next 24 hours. Fingers crossed it is real snow like they are predicting and not our typical "snow" (freezing rain, followed by sleet, then maybe a few flurries on top).

Thank you! Apologies, that photo was actually from 2021 I think, where we had about a week of freezing temperatures and a lot of folks had pool equipment issues. There was another one on my phone I was trying to upload.

Hopefully today is not bad and there are no issues with power. But it is definitely coming down now.
