just found this site. yes my pool is green, after all the pollen that we got hit with. went to local pool store chain, they recommended shock, didnt work, tried green to clean, didnt work, tried others, didnt work. had water tested with them, they recommended drain half and start again. my routine is clean filter, scrub, add whatever and turn on pump and has been running since. test results from pool store: Free Chlorine-.91, Total Chlorine-.91, pH-6.3, Total Alkalinity-0,Calcium Hardness-107, Cyanuric Acid-222, Iron-0.6, Copper-2.3, Phosphates-669, TDS-800. i have order a TF test kit, delivery next week. Any suggestion for this weekend chore list.
thanks all

We don’t trust any tests from a oool store so just wait for the kit to arrive and post up the results. If the store tests are even remotely accurate, you should drain all of it just to get rid of the copper.

As @TinFoilHat indicated, add 5ppm, or 1.5 gallons of 10% liquid chlorine per day until you receive your test kit. Nothing else.

When you get your test kit, post a full set of results.
For the CYA test, do the test starting with #8 here:

It is likely you will have to replace more than 75% of your pool volume with new water to reduce CYA. Read "no drain water exchange" here:

Guys, thanks for your help. Draining pool is on chore list. Now for the dumb question. how does the copper amount go up if i left pool up for the winter and really have not added any real water amount. Pool water was great till about a month ago when the pollen hit and turned everything around the house yellow.

Either it was in chemicals you added, or it's because the pool store copper test has a +/- 0.3 variance at 0.3. So a 0.3 may test 0 to 0.6. It's effectively a useless test and staining is the only thing that proves your copper was high.

Or a 2.3 could be a 2.6 or a 2.0. Pretty bad either way, or a goofed up test.

Well, yeah. Lol But a little over 0.3 and there is likely irrefutable proof of metals with staining. Seeing how 0.3 is the accepted threshold that staining becomes more likely, a +/- 0.3 variance makes the test useless.

Is the OP store test result of 2.3ppm likely an error or could it be legit? Seems insane.
