Glass filter media in pool

I've been dealing with glass in the pool. I haven't taken the filter apart yet to inspect the laterals.
I do have a question. The previous owner of this filter/house put glass media in a sand filter Hayward s210t. When looking at the glass in the pool it is very fine and i'm wondering if that could be the issue.
The glass only comes out of the jets when I switch the pool on or make a change from main to skimmer etc. It is preceeded by air bubbles coming through the jet and then the glass which last about a minute and is about a quarter of cup in total which luckily lands on a stair which I can easily clean.
I'm starting to think the smaller glass is too fine for the filter. Has anyone put glass media in a filter designed for sand and had an issue?

Glass media is sized the same way conventional sand is. It is passed through screens of appropriate size so that nothing larger gets through, but sometimes smaller will. So, the issue is not the media itself.
If you vacuum the debris into the filter, does it pass through immediately? Try giving a very thorough backwash, rinse, then filter and see if anything comes back in. If so, it is possible that there is a broken lateral.
What size/type pump are you using? The S-210 should have a flow rate of no more than 45gpm. Higher flow can also cause the issue you are experiencing.

Its a Hayward , 3450RPM
I had been backwashing but yesterday I vacuumed with probably a week in-between. I will try giving a longer backwash and rinse and see if the dirt comes back into pool.
Not sure if it was immediate, I was vacumming for some time and noticed the spa area was getting very dirty and noticed debris shooting out. I did have it set to full filter.
Guessing its a crack now, but will try backwashing before I take it apart. Really surprised nobody has invented an easier way of removing the filter material!
