This has been here for at least the 10 years I have owned the pool, so I suspect it was original subsidence. If I poke at it, it seems shallow, so I'm going on the assumption it's gelcoat only

Since I'm going to close up soon, I would like to take care of it with some polyester resin.

What is the process for cleaning this first? It looks like it's been culturing some funky algae

I would scrub the crack with a chlorine solution and a tooth brush, soak the crack with chlorine solution, rinse and repeat a few times.

You know the manufacturer of the pool? You may want to contact them and see what they recommend.
