Hi All,

Kindly asking for guidance on proper gas line pipe sizing. We have a fire pit (medium sized), 42-inch grill and a spa. Also have a Pentair 400. All propane based. Per our paperwork, they mention 125ft for a gas line. I apologize for not providing important details to better answer my question.

My concern - they lazily put in something too small (like 3/4in pipe size) and given the propane demand of all three - spa, BBQ and fire pit running at same time - it simply won't work.

I appreciate any feedback!

Thanks so much,

Danielle

According to the heater manual, with only the heater on the line, at 125' you need 1.25" pipe. Anything that uses additional gas has to be accounted for and the pipe size increased. For propane the manual says 10' maximum length for 3/4" pipe.

What are the btu/hr requirements of these from the labels?

If you have high pressure, you can use 1/2" line and then put a regulator at the appliance.

The main trunk line needs to be able to carry all at the same time and each branch needs to carry the load for the appliance it goes to.

Can you sketch a diagram of the plumbing from the tank to all appliances with distances?

Is it high pressure or low pressure?

Is there a regulator at the heater?

Who installed the line, a licensed gas contractor or the pool builder?

The installer needs a gas license.

A licensed gas plumber should be qualified to install the correct line.
