Frog @Ease for Hot tub price hack thoughts?

Hi,

I got tired of paying the ~$55 for 3 refills of the Frog @ease Smartchlor refills and tried to find a cheaper option. I documented what I did in a short Youtube video which was simply buying the largest refill I could find on Amazon which was the pool sized XL refill, and opening it and re-filling the hot tub canister as we go.

Anyone find a smarter / cheaper option that stays with SmartChlor?

Aside from the undesirable ingredients in the frog
That contains dichlor - you’ll run into trouble maintaining proper fc levels once cya climbs beyond recommended levels.

The most cost effective solution is to use the dichlor then bleach method as outlined here
