First time Pool Owner-Pool Boy or Pool Co?

Hi,
Wish I had found TFP a year ago!
:(
I have finally moved from up North to sunny FL and bought my home. Its my first pool home. No previous pool ownership experience. Have had the same pool guy since I moved here!

The house had a pool that was 20 years old which started to deteriorate, so, I asked around and used a company that re-marcited my pool and gave a 20 yr warranty on it... This pool was re-done last year February 2017.

Within the month there was a leak and the company came out to fix it around the Light Fixture.
That did not fix the water loss.
The company came back and fixed the leak around the drain. :(

About a month or two later I noticed a yellow ring formed around the drain. I mentioned it to my regular pool guy and he told me he had noticed it, too...and thought it was from the leak repair the company did.
I was away but when I came back I noticed that As the month passed it spread and started to get larger. So, I called the pool company and they came out... a year later (I know I waited longer than I should have) they came out and told me it was calcium (?) forming and the caused by not enough proper chemicals-care by my pool guy. :( They also told me their warranty does not cover stains!

Of course they offered to do an acid shock treatment (10 days long) coming every other day or so to treat it with acid wash. Thursday will be the last visit...and they have realized it's ridiculously pricey given it's a new pool and stop charging $75/ per visit and gave me a flat rate....so, I'm up to about $400 in Acid Washing my NEW POOL!

Pool guy tested water today and there was no Chlorine in it...but acidity level was at a 6?

QUESTION: How can I tell how that stain started and why? Who's fault it is? And...In the process the calcium (powdering sediment) seems to be lifting when it's brushed :Is that actually the calcium sediments or my marcite being eaten away by the high (6) acidity in the pool? The stain has gotten lighter/smaller but it's still visible in the shade... Will they ever get it out? They are saying it would have to be buffed away (last resort and an additional cost) -pool will need to be drained.

My first recommendation is don't worry about whose fault it is. Just not a fight worth having.

Second recommendation, even more important than the first, is do it yourself! Get a kit from TFTestkits.net, read the articles here in pool school and get it done right. It really isn't that hard - don't be intimidated by it. Get your own levels and you'll find that it's super easy and cheap to maintain your pool. And don't trust what anyone who was stuff to sell you says about your water levels! Once you get good numbers, come back here and there are a host of super smart people here that will help you get things right.
