Finest finish

I don't have any experience with the Finest Finish brand. Nor with a quartz finish. But I've had both plain plaster and mini-pebble in my pool. It is my understanding, and hope, that any aggregate finish is going to last longer than plain plaster. That's why I chose it. But nothing is as comfortable as plain plaster installed well. Smooth as a baby's bottom! Some folks like the look of aggregates better. I guess they are nice. Not that big of a deal to me. If I hadn't needed this refinish to outlast me, so that I don't have to pony up another $10K in my lifetime, I would have stayed with plaster.

If this is your forever house and pool, consider a longer lasting aggregate finish. If you're gunna be gone in 10 years or less, get plain plaster. It'll feel nicer, look fine, and cost less. The "quality" of your pool finish will not make a hair's difference in what you can sell your house for when the time comes...

Hopefully others here will have more experience with those two products you asked about and can give you a better answer...

@jimmythegreek, any experience installing Finest Finish products? Plaster vs quartz?

Thanks for chiming in. I visited a neighbor that had a pebble finish I felt it was pretty rough. I think some of the finest finish lines has a quartz additive.
thanks again.

I had a chance to visit a pool showroom that had all kinds of finishes. I picked their finest (smoothest) pebble finish. But I was a bit disappointed when I felt it in my pool. I had felt all the pools at the showroom with my hand, and walk around on them with bare feet. And that was a mistake. Skin on hands and feet are relatively tough. When I first sat on my new finish (sans suit) and touched it with elbows and knees, I realized how much more sensitive those areas of the body are. That's when I missed my old plaster. Keep that in mind if you get more opportunities to "feel the finish" of other pools.

Thanks for that insight. Will keep that in mind.

Not sure I made clear: the showroom was not just samples, but actual pools! That's how I could get in and walk around. It was pretty cool. Each pool had a half dozen finishes in it!
