I’ll start this by admitting I don’t know much about filters or pumps. Having said that, I have a 6000 gallon above ground pool that’s currently using a .49hp pump with the 14” sand filter it came with.
I found a really good deal on a 1.5hp Vevor pump but I’m assuming I’d have to get a larger filter as well? The pump’s specifications say: single speed, 1.5hp, 43ft max head lift and 88gpm max water flow.
This feels like over kill for this pool but also the pump is only $60 brand new (cheaper than the 1hp pump).
Is this a bad idea? Would I need a larger filter?
Any guidance would be much appreciated!
