Leisure pool, with spa and tanning bed 35 feet long

Installed 1 year ago

When I was vacuuming the pool today, I noticed what looked like two spider cracks star-like, 4 inches in diameter each about 4 inches away from the other ( water depth 3.5 feet ). When I put my mask on and went in the gel coat felt solid, but raised along the lines of the crack. The location is at the bottom of step on the curved part as it meets the main flat floor. There is no water leakage and the surface below the pool in that area is solid and doesn't resonate when tapped on.

My question is are these normal, and what should I do other than contact the installer? I thought about reaching out to Leisure but don't want to jump the gun.

Welcome to TFP! Sounds like cosmetic related (surface) cracks only and should not present an immediate concern. However you are right to consult with the installer and/or manufacture directly as they may request more info from you to determine if any warranty work should be performed. Hope that helps. Good luck. Keep us posted if there are any significant updates.

Well, it's cosmetic until it isn't. If the cracks in the gelcoat eventually open up to the fiberglass underneath, chlorine will react with the resin and you'll have blisters, cracking, and other issues. You are well advised to contact the installer and/or manufacturer while under warranty.
