What’s the latest on fiberglass pools as far as repair options for cracks? My wife and I are looking at house built in 2000. We have no info on the pool and all the local pool guys say there is no way to tell. It looks good…. But I am thinking it’s towards the end of its life. What’s the recommended repair when this thing finally gives out? I saw some videos converting fiberglass to plaster … is this the best long term repair solution? Looks like $15k-$25k plus to do that.

I have also seen the epoxy paints that claim a 10 year guarantee. I find those solutions laughable, but if anyone has done one DIY in the last few years can chime in, I would appreciate it. I would love to do it this way if I was confident it would actually hold up for 7+ years. My father in law painted his plaster pool with this stuff and it started coming off in sheets after only 2 years…

Replace the fiberglass pool or use the hole int he ground to build a liner or gunite pool.

A fiberglass crack can be repaired by someone with experience fixing fiberglass boats or Corvettes. Fiberglass is repairable and there are people who travel around the country repairing FG pools for the manufacturers.
