EZ Drain pool cover worth it?

I'm new to the forum, but have had my above ground pool for over five years. I'm in upstate NY=wild winters. My pool is in the vicinity of quite a few trees. It's a very messy problematic situation when I want to open the pool. Wet leaves are a heavy soggy mess. Have always used solid winter covers, and tried to drain as much water off the cover as possible, but it never works well, and the weight is a struggle. I am considering spending the extra money on an EZ Drain cover, in the hopes that it will help keep the debris on the cover dryer and thus lighter. I'm also considering adding a leaf net on top, to try and keep the water and larger debris separate. Has anyone used the self draining cover? Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on this plan? Any input is GREATLY appreciated!

A leaf net would definitely help and make things a lot easier for you. I've never used the ez drain cover so I can't comment on that. I was looking it up and it didn't really have a ton of reviews. One site said you need to use an aquador cover as well so the water doesn't freeze into your skimmer box.

I use a micromesh cover that almost looks solid. Water drains through the entire cover and basically the leaves sit on the cover and dry and the wind just blows them off. You could try looking at that.

Thank you for the info. I do use an plug for my skimmer basket, and lower my pool water so the ice doesnt expand and damage the top rails. I appreciate your reply! I think I might throw some money at the problem( so tired of wrestling with the cover) and actually try both. It maybe overkill, but I need a new cover anyway, so now is a good time to give it all a shot.
