Eyeball too loose

I have added a timer to my above ground pool. When it kicks the pump on the eyeball is sometimes pointing the wrong way.
When there is no water pressure the eyeball moves really easy.

I can't tighten it down more... So what's the solution?

I have the opposite problem, mine always get jammed and they are hard to move, even with the water off. You can likely just get a replacement eyeball. Likey the tolerance on your has worn down.

Ok, so when you install a eyeball you can thread it in first and leave the top and eyeball off. OR you can tighten it on first and then screw in to the pool.

I don't have enough thread to put just the screw in part first and then put the eyeball in and have enough room to tighten the top collar down on the eyeball. I have to assemble the whole eyeball first and then screw it in to the pool. When I do that it's really tight.

Hope that makes sense
