Hi all,

We just bought a house with an above ground pool. We brought water to pool store and balanced chemicals. It is still extremely cloudy. They recommended we floc and vaccum to waste. We did and It is still cloudy i see now that It is not reccomended here.

I just ordered the reccomended pool test kit. Should i follow the slam protocol? IMG_5624.jpegIMG_5654.jpegIMG_5652.jpeg

Hi, welcome to TFP! I would say yes, but let's wait until you get a set of test results from your new kit in case you need to do a partial drain and refill. Your pool is not in terrible shape, all things considered. Add a 64 ounce bottle of plain, unscented liquid bleach once a day and let the pump run to mix it in until your test kit arrives. This will prevent the pool from getting any worse while you wait. Work on getting all the debris off the floor of the pool.

Could you please edit your signature to include information about your pool and equipment? It will help us answer any additional questions you may have.

Just updated! If i can bring a sample to a pool store tomorrow would that be helpful for the time being?
No. Stay away from pool store testing. Ask me why I am PoolStored. LOL.

Test kit ...Ordered...GREAT!

Add the 64oz of liquid chlorine per day. Walmart Pool Essentials Liquid Chlorine is cheap and good. Add nothing else.

When the test kit arrives, post results and start the SLAM process. Link-->SLAM Process

This is what we can do...Link-->How Clear is TFP Clear?
