EVQ165 vs 225 replacement for existing 1 hp flopro and also automation question

My 1 hp JANDY flopro is starting to whine and rather than having it fixed I am considering an Evogreen century replacement. Inyopools tells me that the 165 with a seal kit will connect well with my existing pump. They tell me if I want the bigger motor I need the bigger impellor which they sell
2 questions
1. I have an upgraded jandy automation RS8 with iq20 RS panel - inyopools says no problem connecting with full remote control but I have read about issues with the 225 motor. do those (still) exist or are there issues with either motor
2. I have problems already priming my motor when my water supply is from my spa - likely an air leak but also not great design - both spa jet pump and spa suction use the same 1.5 inch suction due to an underground leak and sacrifice of the second suction line . If I go with the bigger motor will this help the problem and can't I just run it slower to save the electricity when primed?

Make sure you get a Century EVO motor that has “Century Connect” listed on the packaging. Earlier EVO motors had a custom set of RS-485 commands that were not compatible with any of the big 3 automation systems.

A year to a year and a half after the introduction of the EVO motor Century changed the motor’s firmware and began to advertise their “Century Connect” feature where their RS-485 interface now automatically supports all of the big 3 automation systems.

I can speak to Pentair or Hayward systems but a poster here successfully connected his new EVQ225 to his Jandy RS system. the Jandy system just recognized the motor when a Jandy Epump was selected as the VSP pump choice.

Just make sure you get a pump from recent stock and you should be fine, reportedly it will say it supports “Century Connect” on the packaging.
