European Style High Water Level Skimmer

I am going to build myself an inground pool this summer. I have plans for a infinity edge style, but I also like the look of a high water level pool. Something with a narrow 3/4 deck overhang with the water level as high as possible to the bottom of the overhang. It seems narrow height skimmers are available in Europe, but not in the US. Is there a reason for this, and is this type of pool even feasible ?

Welcome to TFP.

I have no idea what is being described.

Considering the issues folks have in having a Pool Builder build a basic pool I wish you luck finding trades people who can build your vision.

Thanks for the replies, I'm building the pool myself. Not using a contractor. I'm wondering if there are some sort of regulations that prevent this type of narrow skimmer from being used in the US. I am also not worried about water loss thru splashing. The pool will only be used occasionally, and I live on 40 acres in the country so there are no issues with runoff.

Do you have any areas you're planning on doing a raised bond beam? Seems like you could just use a normal skimmer, but mounted up a bit higher.

No raised bond beam, or any water features. I want the look to be minimalist. I had thought about setting a raised regular skimmer about 10 feet away from the pool with a trough under the deck leading to the skimmer, but I think there would be issues with enough supply to the skimmer. Especially if one skimmer was clogged causing the other to draw a high volume of water. I had originally planned on a negative edge on one end of the pool, but think this style would achieve a similar look but less complication and upkeep.

I am so glad I found this group.
I just built my own 9.5'X40'X8' concrete wall pool and completed this summer with water added around August 10th. If you want minimalist then my pool is right up your alley.
I did the plans myself and after getting th permit I drove around looking for any guy operating an escavator to dig my hole and thats how I got started.

I have 3 CMP wide mouth extended throad skimmers that I mounted too low (water level is 7 to 8 inches down from the patio) and I am about to ripe them out and install new skimmers that will have me somewhere between 1" or 3" depending on which approach I take.

Ideally I would use one of the European skimmers however I cannot seem to get one unless I fly there. Therefore, I have decided to modify one of the availble skimmers here.
My pool is attached. I built the enlosed deck two years ago and after building it I got the wild idea I could build a pool.
Checkout my plumbing pad. Its a work of art. I glued every joint.
