Just thought I’d update everyone.
We have a new project manager on our pool build and he was not at all pleased with drilling holes into the gunite shell. It was forbidden at his prior company but for this owner apparently it’s standard practice.
He had the same concerns as me. Unnecessary holes could cause leaks in the future if not patched properly. There is also the high risk of hitting a water pipe in the gunite walls, which they narrowly missed two (we think).
He was going to pressurize the plumbing system again to check if any pipes were hit, scope the holes with a camera, and promised to fill them with hydraulic cement if all was good.
