My pool cleaner saga.....

1 - So was having impeller issue - fixed by cleaning brushes in motor and all seemed good .

2 - When reassembled drive motor got loud after a while - took apart to see and water was getting in - new drive motor purchased. $65

3 - Hooked up new motor after testing board terminals and when hooked up and powered up drive motor still would not work - as soon as there was load the power terminal V racing dropped to zero...looked at circuit board and figured that was issue so ordered one. $75.

4 - New motor circuit board installed and reassembled and both motors jumped to life right away. Reassembled and into the pool

5 - Now the cleaner comes on as soon as you hit power but I think it used to take a few seconds and the impeller would come on first then the drives but not 100% sure - which is tolerable except now the unit does not change direction at all which means it just keeps scrubbing waterline.

6 - read about upside down self test so tried out - no sequence just turns on and runs in one direction continuously.

Questions…

1 - does the motor circuit board or the power supply control the direction of unit and self test procedure??? I assume its the power supply that just reverses voltage to the motor to change direction but want to check

2 - Many articles refer to an out of water sensor - does a supreme M4 have one as it runs out of the water continuously so would seem not?

3 - is there a way to reset the power supply to make it self test???

I am at the limit of time and effort in repair as well as budget (if I couldn't fix for $200 was going new) so if no quick solutions looking for recommendation on cheapest cleaner for 40 foot pool with weekly timer to clean daily. Being able to select floor or floor and wall would be a nice option too. Friend has a Polaris P825 cleaner that seems to be an option???

TIA

The only thing i can think of is that you did not connect the servo lead to the board. The servo moves the the impeller flow direction. Or the diverter might be stuck, which you will need to open it up again and run the drive unit itself until to see if it works.

My old girl is not that fancy - impeller just runs one direction and speed and tracks are supposed to go both ways - but now only one. So no diverter on this one......

Issue is drive motor direction control - seems power supply related but want to confirm.

Can anyone confirm if the power supply controls the direction of the drive motor or is it controlled I the motor portion itself?

What tells it when to change direction or is it strictly time based?

Trying to understand the logic process to the cycles.
