Hello all,
So as I'm sure everyone knows, COVID did two things to the pool situation:
1) Limited accessibility to public pools
2) Eliminated the availability of moderately priced Above Ground Pools

So I had a concept for building my own steel wall AGP and I wanted to ask if this was feasible.
I'd like to use pieces of corrugated steel roofing (e.g. Classic Rib Steel Roof Panel in Charcoal at Home Depot) , bolted together to make a round pool.
These come in 3 ft sections that are meant to overlap at the seam. You can get them prepainted in a few different colors. I would cut these to my desired pool height, bolt them together, and bolt some aftermarket beaded liner receivers along the rim.
I would think the cost of panels are reasonable and as long as I paint/seal any cuts or holes in the roofing and use galvanized fasteners, I shouldn't have too much rust problems.
The corrugated nature of the panels should give it rigidity to support the vinyl liner walls, yet allow flexibility in the other direction in order to form a ring.
Is this something that seems viable?
Would I need some kind of uprights along the perimeter of the pool wall?
Is there some kind of engineering principle here I'm not considering?

I think you definitely need some uprights around the perimeter. I would love to see this build, please start a thread if you tackle this project.

I think it will be safer and less work if you just weld the panels together into a long roll or something line that. You will need to drill about 40 holes at each connection (that's how many holes my wall has where the wall ends meet) . I will put some kind of uprights on each seam. How about asking local farmers that might have a grain silo to be destroyed? Grain silo wall is already round and will work perfectly for the round pool check this article Grain Bin Swimming Pool

This does seem like a good way to go. There is a fair amount of farming in my area, though it's not what I'd call rural. I'll check around. Using grain bin panels to a standard pool size and still being able to use a liner seems like a good way to go. Thanks for the idea.
