Diving Board Cover without board

My pool was winterized and the diving board removed. I want to cover up the base to prevent rain/snow but can’t think of an easy way besides ton of thin plastic wrapping. They make diving board covers but that’s for the board being in place. I thought of a chair winter cover but the rain and snow will fill the opening and weigh the cover down but maybe that’s ok Any ideas?

Put the board back and cover it ?

I don't like covers in general as they usually don't allow things to breathe, solving one issue and creating another.

If it’s just the threaded rods you are trying to protect then you can purchase any kind of high quality anti corrosion grease (thick formulations with a brush top) and apply it to the threaded posts. There’s lots of different products out there but typically a marine-grade grease will fully protect the metal even when it’s buried under a few feet of snow.

If you want to exclude snow and rain then just buy a plastic bucket that’s slightly deeper than what you need to cover the base and put a few bricks on top of it. Should work just fine.

Can you remove the base?

Are the nuts and bolts in good condition?

Remove the base and cover the bolts with something so that people don't get injured by falling on them or stubbing their toes.

Given the picture above I’d say you can probably find a small plastic tarp and some bungee cords and wrap the whole thing up. I’d still apply some grease to the bolts to make sure that moisture is excluded but that base could be easily wrapped up in a tarp.

Are diving boards that susceptible to winter weather? I'm happy not to remove mine each year, 10 years in. But maybe I'm ignorant of the risks being taken.
