Having trouble finding the physical dimensions of the length on the Pentair IC30 (ichlor) and IC40 (intellichlor). Going by photos only it would appear the IC30 is shorter but curious what the real dimensions are.
In your case, an iChlor 30 is really too small for a 20K pool..
We recommend that the cell be at least 2 x the size of the pool. So a 20K pool needs an 40K cell. This is because the cell is rated when running at 100% output and 24/7.
Especially in sunny CA with looooooooong and hot seasons. You'll use the lifespan hours much sooner than me in NY. I'd go 4x in warm climates for ROI. The upgrade costs a fraction of the lifespan gained.
For example. Going IC20 to IC40 is like buying 2 IC20s for only 20% more. For another 20% the IC60 is like buying 3 IC20s for 44% more than the IC20. (Compounded).

I am 100% on the same page as you. I am in conversations with my pool guy stating the cell should be 2x the size of the pool, aka IC40. I was hoping getting the definitive dimensions would help the convo.
In short, I just installed a Pentair Intelliflo3 VS pump and had everything replumbed. I am satisfied with the work and the end result, it is a clean job. I kept my chlorine tablet feeder in the loop but have now decided I want to move to salt. The problem we're having is the section used for the tablet feeder is only 11" from union to union. With the IC40 being 12"+ we simply can't drop this in. He suggested the IC30 which is smaller but what I can't seem to find is how much smaller it is. Then there is still the question of if the IC30 even fits would you even do it. If I go IC40 then we have to get creative but it may be that or nothing.
With the unions, the Intellichlor IC40 will require about 15.5" to 16" and the Ichlor will require about 11.5" to 12" but verify with Pentair to be sure.
