Hi there,
I need to replace my pool sand filter and am having difficulty understanding how to calculate the minimum size I need.
Pool 20,000 gallons
Hayward Max Flow 1 HP pump
Current filter is a Jacuzzi Laser 25in
Also have a Raypack Heater which requires a Min 25 and Max 125 GPM.
Everywhere I read says to see the GPM of the pump and pick an appropriate filter based on that. However I can not figure out GPM of the pump. I am not sure how much head the pool has to then reference the chart that comes with the pump. Another way I have seen is to look at the intake lines. I only have one 1.5 in intake line from the skimmer. Does that mean that my pump is only running a max of 42 GPM based on the intake?
If I replace the filter with a Hayward Sand Master 25in (3.14 ft^2 filtration area, max GPM 75) would this be fine?
Thanks!
