Broke out the laser this afternoon as we get close to move in and turn to the backyard.

We'll be installing a 16x40 FG pool (O/B) and I'm trying to get my head around grading options.

We have a 16' patio door out the back of our house.

If we went with 40" from the house to grade (5 rises) it leaves us to raise the near end of pool by 1", and the far end by 10 3/4".

9 3/4" current grade difference over the 40' of proposed pool location.

If we went with 32" rise instead of 40", pool needs to come up 9" near end and 18 3/4" far end.

We're thinking of doing a concrete patio in a limestone panel design which means 6" of granular and 4" of concrete. 28' from pool to house and we would slope/drain to side.

So, my questions:

Any issues with raising grade around pool and deck by those heights?

What do I do at the far end which transitions to lawn?

I have to raise grade at one corner of my yard to meet pool. Granular a dropped in 4" layers and well tamped will do the job. We do it all the time on commercial sites and put concrete on it the same day. I've seen 8 foot deep fills done and concrete poured right after.
It compacts much better than screenings and stays compacted. They use it for road building so good enough for my patio.
