The wall fitting for the polaris has a burr / cross threaded and I cannot get a new male wall fitting installed into it. I am talking about the fitting that is in the side of the pool. You then install the male fitting inside of it and are able to attach the polaris.

the female threads in the side of the pool are not accepting the male fitting.

Below is a picture of what I am trying to install.

Any idea how to clean up those threads?

Cross threaded PVC is a b*tch to correct...correctly.

The wall fittings are likely 1.5" FPT. If you know how to use one, AND you know if they are 1.5" fittings, they are 11.5 TPI. If you are confident in your abilities to use a tap, you may be able to correct the threads with a tap (Link below to 1.5" x 11.5 TPI tap).

The issue is that unlike galvanized/blackpipe, it is easy to double cross thread the PVC. Aside from replacing the fitting, or getting a metal pic (like you would use for cleaning teeth) and correcting the cross thread, the tap is the way to go. You need to make sure you get it absolutely straight.

If you are able to get the threads cleaned, you will need to use several wraps of teflon tape on your male fittings to make up/seal the cross thread damage.

You can, usually, use a PVC 1.5" male adapter to clear the threads in the wall fitting. It takes patience to get it to go in straight, but can be done.
