My skimmer in my in-ground pool has been cracked for a few years. I epoxy it and it lasts for a little while and then I have to redo it. Is it best to just break down and pay to have it replaced? I have a brick coping around the pool, so replacing it myself might be more than I am willing to tackle.

Cracks are generally the result of settling/movement around and underneath. Sure, ideally it's best to dig up the area, replace any bad items, and re-pack to prevent further movement. Easy for us to say that when the job can cost $$$$. Unless the cracking is so bad that an epoxy simply won't work anymore, it's really your call.

I believe it may cost $1200 to replace it, which is why I haven't yet. Do you have a favorite brand of epoxy? Perhaps I should work on it when the water level drops below the skimmer and sand the old epoxy off and re-epoxy it with a good epoxy and let it cure before filling the pool.
