We discovered a crack in the bottom of our sand filter and have to replace the tank. It will take several days IF they are in stock.
We realize we shouldn't try to fix it - we tried several years ago when the crack was at the neck of the filter but this one being on the bottom, it sure is tempting to put a patch on the inside and limp thru until we can get a new tank.
I've considered getting a used DE filter to use in the meantime but was wondering how much work a DE filter would be during the interim before we are able to hook the pool back up. Used filter $40, DE - don't know yet how much we'd need. I can't tell by the pic on FB Market place.
Also wondering if during the interim we could hook up the pump directly to the return pipe just to keep the water circulated but not filtered. Will we blow the hard plumbed lines from too much pressure using a 3/4 hp pump? Hard lines are 1 1/2" - 2". We would have to use flexible hose to attach pump to heater intake pipe.
