Covers to keep leaves and debris out

On a free form pool with raised spa, are there any options short of a heavy duty cover to keep leaves and debris out of the pool? Builder quoted about 3K for a custom cover which was last year. I really don't want to use a cover but with all the leaves around here in the fall and the oak tassles and such in the spring, we will have to do something. Is there anything easy to put on and off or should I just reside myself to the full cover?

Sure is !! Search up leaf nets or leaf covers. They are more like fishing nets and lightweight, easy to deploy / remove. Way cheaper too. They aren’t perfect being netting and whatnot, but they’ll stop the bigger things from getting in.

*also, while you could go custom made, it doesn’t need to support any weight so just get one big enough to cover everything and weight down the edges with your buckets / aquablocks / bricks of choice. or tie it off with stakes so if an animal gets caught up in the bed you don’t drag bricks into the pool.

Thanks for the reply. We've had a lot of trees taken out but are in the middle of a forest and from what's fallen this year, there's no way I can leave it uncovered. We will have kool deck and the contractor says if you put plastic over it, it will stain the finish. Don't know about covers or if it's is just poly plastic.

Hang tight for someone knowledgeable with kool deck but I’m pretty sure others have covers on theirs. When I got mine there was 3 options for safety covers. 95%, 98% and 100%. The first 2 let some sunlight on and are a bit lighter to manage.

Our cover is probably a free form 95% safety cover and I can take it off myself, but wouldn't be able to install it without 2 people. Even taking it off is much easier with two people. I can imagine a solid cover would be much heavier though. I can carry mine in it’s storage bag, but just barely.

In my opinion, getting a big tarp with weights to hold it on is way cheaper but also way more hassle keeping it in place with wind and rain and inner-tunes floating underneath to keep the tarp off the water. I almost think a solar cover would be easier to manage than the tarps.
