Ours still gets a little warm. I feel like it could use another coat of the color to get just right on appearance. However, I’m not sure I want to bother if it doesn’t help with the cooling.

What say you?

There are several “cool deck” style coatings and only one of them is the legit material and it’s in the cement coating itself. What exactly do you have? Nothing you add will likely make a difference in either case.

I had an H&C concrete overlay on the concrete around my last pool. On hot days, it was still quite warm but cooler than the original concrete. On my current pool, I have a Sundek concrete overlay. Even on the hottest days, the surface stays pretty cool.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like ifs not worth the trouble unless we want a deeper color.

As far as the specifics, I didn’t ask enough questions on our 2023 install so I am not sure.

Did they roll it on with a paint roller or a spray texture gun or use trowels?

This one is the expensive original. Most of the others are a paint type system and so performance probably varies.
