Concrete Slide Refinishing - DIY Help or Experience?

Well its been 3 years since the pool was installed and its time to refinish the slide.

Searched the forums and didn't find anything that was helpful. Anyone had success in DIY in refinishing a concrete pool slide?

I am doing a punch of reading and it looks like some good old fashioned sanding with 80-120 grit sandpaper is required. Thats the easy part. What about brands for concrete sealer and also what to use in order to get the tan colour??

Pics are attached and an help would be appreciated. I have also called a few companies but no return phone calls and this is #1 on the priority list for the next 2 weeks.

Look up AquaBright. Our resident expert pool builder uses it and has used it on slides in the past. If you can find a company local that applies it to pools, you may be able to get them to come out to do a quick rework job just on the slide. It’s a little pricey but I’ll get it lasts a lot longer than anything else you could do....

the color is in the concrete most times the sealer brings it out. They do have xylene that removes sealer some sealers use a acetone as base . splash some water on it if the sealer is gone the concrete will darken some and soak in . there can be sealer left just not keeping color the same im not up on what sealers are best for slides or pools . Be sure and show us what you do so we all learn. good luck

Thanks guys. I will look up aquabirght as well.

Any recommendation on which epoxy to use? And also some sort of instructions. Layer of epoxy, then colour, then another layer of epoxy??

A lot of the epoxies come colored so that should simplify things.

Another option is a high quality water based primer and paint like Modern Masters. That's what I use for rock work and slides and very much prefer it over epoxy.
