Looking to replace an older pool that is beyond repair at this point. I am having trouble finding information I found in previous years, and hoping someone in this forum can point in right direction. I had read previously that Doughboy makes one of the better above ground pools, but I can not find anyone that will sell just the pool. I have also read that there is another brand that can be purchased that is made by same people as Doughboy that can be purchased. That may have been bad info, but when looking up there specs, and where they came from, it seemed believable. It was a couple years ago, and I didn't save the name, and with how companies change things for the internet to make their site more likely to come up, I can't currently find it.
Sorry for the long explanation, and I did also look at wiki on here, but couldn't find anything, although I could have missed it. Were is the best place to buy an above ground pool currently? I am interested in quality, and durability, not soft sided pool. If anyone knows where to look, even if I had names of the better above ground pools I could probably find a good place to purchase. Thank you for reading and also to anyone that might have any info.

The aquasport clone we inherited after moving was a tank. Look for the narrow interlocking slats instead of a wall.

Radiant and optimum are forever pools also.

I would also consider any full resin pool (including the wall). IIRC the aurora saltwater is one.

Thanks, but this is next to no information. I do see you posted the aurora saltwater as a possible, will look it up, but you list no reputable sites to buy from or anything. I do thank you for reply, it is actually only one we received, just disappointing there seems to be so little useful info on internet anywhere.

You’re looking at it wrong-
You want to decide what type of pool is right for you & then go from there.
Doughboy is just a brand & they make multiple types of pools of varying longevity & price ranges.
Many other manufacturers also make multiple types.

Types:

Thin walled type pools:
Rolled Steel wall w/ steel or aluminum uprights & top rails - cheapest option
Older doughboy pools were this type.

Hybrid- rolled steel wall w/ resin uprights & top rails - better - no rust of top rails or uprights to worry about.
most doughboy models today are hybrids.

Full resin- fully resin wall, uprights, & top rails. No rust to worry about at all.
The Saltwater Aurora made by sunsports is fully resin.
The Wilbar group manufactures many different brands of quality pools including-
Atlantic pool products
Backyard leisure pools
Sharkline
Vogue
Trendium
Here’s a little breakdown of the ones sold at the pool factory.com

Then you have the extruded aluminum interlocking panel types like in
@Newdude ’s pic -
Aquasport, Kayak, & Wilbar are some of these type’s manufacturers.
These are very rugged pools. But their looks aren’t for everyone.
They are more expensive than a thin walled pool.

The most expensive type are what I call the “sandwich wall” type semi inground pools. (You don’t have to put them in the ground)
They have Large panels which contain insulation sandwiched between two layers of coated metal that form the walls of the pool & are put together 1 panel at a time.
Doughboy’s version is called the hydrosphere.
There’s also Optimum, Radiant, & the ultimate pool by fox that are made this way.
They are generally the most expensive type of above ground pool. Some can be almost completely buried.
