Commercial Pool Conversion

I am working on behalf of my HOA to determine the cost of converting our 2 pools from traditional chlorine to SWG. Our main pool is 150,000 gallons. I understand that I need 2x the rated chlorine generation/day (i.e. build out for a 300,000 gallon pool) but I'm having a tough time determining the number of pounds of generated chlorine per day that should be? Can someone please help me here? Also, any suggestions as to product selection for my situation would be appreciated.

C,

I'm sure for that size of a pool you are not using tablets or liquid chlorine.

Tell us how you are currently sanitizing your pools..

You would need a commercial system which we do not have much expertise with.

Why did you decide to go with a saltwater system?

Thanks,

Jim R.

To help you begin your search & get a starting point you can use PoolMath effects of adding to get an idea of how many
pounds /24 hrs it would take to replace the average fc loss of your pool volume based on the percentage & run times you select.
Most residential pools lose around 2-4 ppm/day (not sure what it is in your situation) that is the bare minimum you want the swg to produce daily. Aiming for a production amount that is double the average loss amount is a way to ensure plenty fc & the ability to adjust runtimes/% settings as needed. This is a residential forum so what applies to residential pools may not apply at all in your situation.

Welcome to TFP.

This Wiki article discusses SWGs with multiple cells - SWG Multiple Cells - Further Reading.

For example the Pentair solution would be...

IntelliChlor Commercial systems (COMSYS) can be expanded to support larger pool sizes, for example a 150,000 gallon pool would use a COMSYS 16 and seven additional secondary cells and additional manifolds.

Haywards solution would be...

Actually, we do have a very large liquid sodium hypochlorite system (for the past 20 yrs). I had a chlorine pool 40,000 that I converted and the quality of the water was, to me, far superior. Also, the cost of chemicals has soared.
