Coleman Saluspa Inflatable Setup Question

I just picked up an inflatable Coleman Saluspa Hawaii (the square one) and I'm getting ready to set it up. I've watched the online videos and read several posts about these. However, while reading the set-up guide that came with the tub, it mentioned connecting a copper ground wire to the pump/heater. I can't really find anyone talking about this for any inflatable and, given that the cord is GFCI and there's nothing metal in the tub, I'm not sure why this needs to happen. I am setting it up near my above ground pool and its pump, so it would be fairly easy to connect to that. Just trying to figure out if it's necessary.

FYI, first post on the board, been lurking for a couple of years, but this spring, since I didn't want to constantly be taking water samples in, made the full jump to TFP, downloaded Pool Math, bought a Taylor kit and the water in my pool has never been cleaner. Should have made this move years ago. Thanks for all the help on the boards.

Had to do the same, it's called Bonding, copper wire to a ground rod. Back of the pump motor will have a screw/clamp run the wire from this to the ground rod that is driven into the ground 4-6' Your pump and heater should be tied in to this. I'm not an electrical expert, just what the manual's said to do.
