CircuPool RJ-60...what all do I need?

Maybe I'm overthinking it but what all do I need to add SWCG? Working with a 38k gallon pool so I'm looking at the CircuPool RJ-60. Do I just need the pump and the fittings? Do I need a timer with this one or can I just wire it to where it cuts on when the pump does?

Thank you!

Take a look at my install thread and the manul link below. Those should help.

No timer needed if you wire it to the "load" side of your pump. It comes with everything you need (including adapters if you have 1.5" PVC) except PVC glue. I just installed one and it took me about two hours...and that is me doing the PVC work that I am *not* proficient doing. The installation instructions are clear and concise...you can read them online.

That's a great writeup! I'll definitely be referring back to it in a couple of days. Thanks!

So I'm a rookie pool owner. Brand new to all of this. We just got the pool filled back up. I have a test kit. Do I need to get all of my numbers correct from the manual first and then add the salt?

Edit: Nevermind. Just read this part in the manual: "It is important that the pool's water chemistry is balanced before the RJ-Series is powered on and used "

Post up your test results.

Please complete your signature. Add what test kit you are using to your signature.

Once chems are OK, add the salt a day or so before installation to allow it to dissolve. I used the fine granulated I bought from a family owned pool supply store. It's food grade, not that it matters. It dissolves quickly. The pellets take longer. That way you can start making chlorine as soon as you turn it on -- and say goodbye to tabs -- ohh, how sweet it isss.

Be absolutely sure you do not purchase Clorox brand pool salt. It is known to stain pools.

I use plain water softener salt. Pellet some call them. Dissolve in minutes. No need to pay more for 'pool' salt.

What have you added to the pool so far? Is this a fresh fill?
The CC is high. Are you confident of that?
You calcium is dangerously low for a concrete pool.

Your going to need a lot of calcuim..Use the pool math app but buy it in 25 pd bags local or off amazon. Lot cheaper and easier then the 7 and 10pd bottles at HD or walmart

Ok -- no issues.
Get 30 ppm CYA dissolving using the sock method.
Add 3 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine every day until the SWCG is on.
Assume pH of 8 and target 7.6. Add muriatic acid to lower. Circulate for 30 minutes or so and test again. Repeat until pH is in the 7's. With our low TA, should not take much. Watch TA, you may need to raise that.
CH - you need calcium. Target CH of 250 ppm. Add about 1/3 of the calcium chloride that is called for. Wait a day, test, add, etc.
