Chemtrol 250 orp/ph controllers

Sorry you have not received any responses. Not many of us use ORP as it does not work well in outdoor pools.

Marty...what do you use then? I've been using ORP for many years in an outdoor pool and it seems to work fine. The question about the Chemtrol system is for a neighboring pool that I have been trying to help them get set up again.
We did figure out how to bypass the flow switch and it too seems to be working fine on an outdoor pool as well.
So now I am very curious as to what you all use in your outdoor pools for an automated system?

Saltwater chlorine generator.

Some use stenner pump dosing of liquid chlorine.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner, but to directly answer your question (for future inquiries) the flow switch is more for bypass installations than for direct inline installations. It's to ensure that there is water flow past the sensors so that they don't get a false reading and turn on the chlorine or acid injection erroneously.

So the answer to the original question is, if you have the sensors in the main plumbing you can bypass the flow switch.

Can you tell us what your CYA numbers are in both pools?

Thanks Marty, they are using stenner pumps for feeding, the chemtrol just automates the feed.
We did install the sensors in the main plumbing so were able to bypass the flow switch and it is working well now.
The CYA in their pool was very high, over 120 so we did do a partial drain and it is still 100 but our reports have been good from the health department, so we will leave it. It's a vinyl lined pool so we will drop the level nd blow the lines in the fall and refill in the spring.

I have a pool right next door to these people and we keep our CYA between 30 -40.

You are the only one we have heard can make it work with an outdoor pool with appropriate CYA. Good for you.
