Channel drain questions

Pool/deck built in 1985 and has a small channel drain (less than 1.5 inches wide) that is clogged with debris and I'm about halfway through ripping it out. I think it's too small for the amount of rain we get and the old drain didn't have a cover or grate that I could remove to clean out. I'm thinking about getting a concrete guy to cut the concrete about another 2 inches and install a wider drain. What drain do you recommend for a DIY guy who is not so good at DIY projects?
